LATE PROFESSOR STEPHEN HAWKINGS FINAL THEORY ON THE ORIGIN OF THE UNIVERSE HAS BEEN PUBLISHED BY PROFESSOR THOMAS HERTOG

Image
biography.com The late professor  Stephen Hawking's  final theory on the origin of the universe has been published today in the  Journal of High Energy Physics . Hawking collaborated with Professor Thomas Hertog from KU Leuven on the paper which was submitted for publishing before  Hawking's death  in March this year. The paper’s ideas are based on string theory, it predicts the universe is finite and that the universe's origin may, in fact, be far more simple than current theories relating to the Big Bang. Modern Big Bang theorists believe that the universe came into existence with a burst of inflation that started to occur just moments after the Big Bang itself. It is thought that once this inflation begins the quantum effects can keep it going indefinitely. The part of the universe that we can observe is just a hospitable pocket where inflation has ended. "The usual theory of eternal inflation predicts that globally our universe is like...

UNCOVERING THE SECRET LAW OF THE EVOLUTION OF GALAXY CLUSTERS

Image
As science enthusiasts around the world bid farewell to legendary cosmologist Stephen Hawking, researchers continue to make important discoveries about the evolution of galaxy clusters that capture the imagination. Credit: NASA/ESA, Umetsu et al. 2012, ApJ, 755, 56 Now, an international collaboration between Yutaka Fujita at Osaka University and researchers from Taiwan, Italy, Japan, and the United States found a new fundamental law that stipulates the evolution of galaxy clusters. They recently reported the study in  The Astrophysical Journal . Galaxy clusters are the largest celestial body in the Universe. However, it has been difficult to measure their size and mass accurately because they mainly consist of dark matter that we cannot observe directly. One way to observe the dark matter indirectly is to use the gravitational lensing...

THE MOST DISTANT NORMAL STAR EVER DISCOVERED USING COSMIC LENS, CAPTURED BY ASTRONOMERS

Image
An image of the most distant normal star ever observed in the history of astronomy has been reported. The star in question, according to estimates by the astronomers who documented the star with the help of NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, is located as far as 9 billion light-years from our planet, a distance so staggering it seems comprehensible and incomprehensible at the same time.                                               NASA, ESA, and P. Kelly (University of Minnesota)                         . A phenomenon known as  gravitational lensing —which is the process by which light is bent, or deflected, due to the matter existing between an observer and a distant light source. This was not enough in this case to produce a result, however. Because of interaction with a very large nearby cluster, ...

Galaxy without dark matter discovered

Image
Generally, Galaxy without dark matter baffles astronomers. Recently, Astronomers have discovered a galaxy with almost no dark matter.  Dark matter  is a confusing area of astrophysics but it is generally agreed upon that dark matter is a requirement of the existence of galaxies.  This theory is being put to the test by this latest discovery of a galaxy, called NGC1052-DF2 that appears to have almost no evidence of dark matter.  Finding a galaxy without dark matter is unexpected because this invisible, mysterious substance is the most dominant aspect of any galaxy,"  said  Pieter van Dokkum from Yale University, lead author of the paper on the discovery.  The galaxy is about  65 million light-years away  in the constellation of Cetus and is about the same size as the Milky Way. NGC1052-DF2 isn’t just missing  dark matter  it also only has about one star for every 200 found in the Milky Way.  This is highly uncom...

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THE GREAT PHYSICIST, [STEPHEN HAWKING]

Image
In admiration of a great scientist, astronomer, theoretical physicist, mathematician and an extraordinary man who worked and whose legacy will live for many years, STEPHEN HAWKINGS. Keeping track of thIS renowned theoretical physicist who passed on, below are some facts about him Stephen Hawkings was born on Jan 8th 1942 in Oxford England. Hawkings father was medical researcher and adviced his son to study medicine which he boldly rejected. Hawkings was diagnosed with motor neurone disease at age 21 which gradually paralysed him and confined him to a wheel chair. He got married to two women during is lifetime, Jane Hawkings and Elaine Mason. He got married to Jane Hawkings in the year 1965 and Elaine Mason in the year 1995 after divorcing Jane hawkings. Steve was  robbed of his voice by a tracheotomy in 1985 MIT engineers Dennis Wath synthensized his voice, but Hawkings subsequently requested to keep that voice throughout of the system upgrade...
